These pictures were taken on a sunny weekend in Suzdal in October 2016. The endless towers of churches and monasteries were extremely impressive. In my view it is one of the most beautiful smaller villages in Russia.

These pictures were taken on several visits of the Golden Ring in winter time. The endless towers of churches and monasteries were extremely impressive and that historical ring around Moscow is highly recommended for visiting.

Please select some music and enjoy these beautiful pictures from Everest and Ama Dablam. Most pictures were taken on a hike from Jiri to Everest Base Camp in 2016. A few were already taken in 2008 on the same route.

This fantastic route from Jiri to Everest Base Camp in April 2016 took me about 4 weeks. There were awesome landscapes and very friendly people in the villages. It is one of my favorite hikes in the world.

In May 2016 I visited Myanmar and apart from day excursions I mainly concentrated on 4 different places: Mandalay, Bagan, Inle Lake and Mrauk U. It was a great experience with extremely friendly people, but it was also low season with temperatures often above 40 degrees.

Besides you will encounter many seals and birds. I regard Jökulsarlon as one of the best places in Europe for photography.

The adult arctic foxes sometimes are very tame without any fear at all. However the puppies are rather anxious and you will see them only in presence of their mother. Hornstrandir is a hiking paradise and offers great opportunities for landscape and wildlife photography. The pictures are from a summer hike in July 2014 and a winter hike in March 2015.

I did choose and concentrate on "Penguins" as my main topic for wildlife photography. We have seen 7 different species of penguins: King, Adelie, Chinstrap, Gentoo, Macaroni, Rockhopper and Magellan. So the only species not seen on that trip was the emperor penguins. Sometimes framing is not easy as penguins are jumping and walking into the frames. 

Besides penguins you see some pictures of birds, seals and elephant leopards.

We started in Ushuaia and continued via Falkland Islands, South Georgia, Elephant Island, Deception Island to the Antarctic Peninsula. It was fascinating seeing all the different blue and green colors of huge icebergs.  Sometimes it was overwhelming with so much snow and ice around. There was an abundance of glaciers and often also very beautiful cloud formations were developing. Overall the weather was very nice with a final sunny, windless day.

The trek is both interesting from a culture view with some very remote villages and also as of its beautiful, awe-inspiring mountain world. In 1966  a vote in the German magazine "Alpinismus" selected Alpamayo as "The Most Beautiful Mountain in the World".

Side note: I really loved the donkey that I hired for the first 3 days.

I am also a big fan of the Laugavegur ultra run, where you experience the beautiful scenery in just 6hours instead of hiking it in 4 days.
